TRAFFIC-NOISE, winner of the Urban Challenge of the Barcelona Innova Lab Mobility to reduce traffic-related noise pollution in Barcelona
The city of Barcelona takes a decisive step toward healthier and more sustainable mobility with the implementation of TRAFFIC-NOISE, an innovative technology project led by Bettair Cities and Trafficnow, as part of the Urban Challenge from Barcelona Innova Lab Mobility.

TRAFFIC-NOISE offers an integrated solution to correlate, anticipate, and mitigate urban noise pollution caused by traffic. By combining high-precision acoustic sensors, artificial vision systems, and AI algorithms, the system enables real-time identification of urban noise sources and anticipates critical noise pollution events.
The pilot will be deployed in Barcelona, integrating advanced technologies such as bettair® devices, the DeepBlue VIA system by Trafficnow, and the cloud platform Virtual Control Center (VCC).
This challenge is part of the Barcelona Innova Lab Mobility, an initiative promoted by the Barcelona City Council, the BIT Habitat Foundation, and Fira de Barcelona, which work together to drive urban and technological innovation through real-world challenges. This collaborative framework enables the testing of innovative solutions in real urban environments, strengthening the city’s entrepreneurial and technology ecosystem.
TRAFFIC-NOISE is not only a solution for Barcelona: its modular architecture, low energy consumption, and compatibility with open platforms like SENTILO make it a scalable, replicable, and economically sustainable model, ready to be adopted by other cities aiming to build more livable urban environments.
With this project, Barcelona reinforces its role as an international urban laboratory and a reference in innovation, sustainable mobility, and quality of life.
This project has been funded by the Barcelona Innova Lab Mobility
and is an initiative promoted by the Barcelona City Council, BIT Habitat Foundation, and Fira de Barcelona.
