Bettair Brings Cleaner Air to Las Rozas: Smart Sensors Powering a Healthier City

Las rosas calidad del aire

Air quality is no longer a secondary concern — it’s at the heart of how cities plan for the future. Las Rozas de Madrid has taken a decisive step by implementing an advanced air monitoring system powered by Bettair, a leader in environmental sensing technologies. This initiative places Las Rozas among the most forward-thinking municipalities in Spain, using innovative tools to reduce pollution, protect public health, and meet European climate targets. And at the center of it all is the technology developed by Bettair Cities.

The challenge: understanding the air we breathe

Back in 2021, the City Council launched a comprehensive study to evaluate the local air quality. Based on that analysis, seven key zones were identified where high-resolution, real-time monitoring would be essential.

To meet this challenge, the city needed more than traditional tools — it needed cutting-edge, reliable, and scalable technology. That’s where Bettair came in.

The solution: hyperlocal air quality data powered by Bettair

Through a collaboration with integrator Dnota, Las Rozas deployed a network of seven Bettair® devices designed specifically for complex urban environments.

Our devices measure key pollutants such as NO₂, O₃, SO₂, PM₂.₅, and PM₁₀ with exceptional accuracy, offering hyperlocal insights into air quality on a street-by-street level. This granular data empowers city planners and policymakers to respond quickly and efficiently.

Each sensor is also connected to a reference monitoring station in Montecillo, allowing for constant data validation and calibration to ensure top-level accuracy.

Beyond measurement: smart action and sustainable planning

Bettair’s network doesn’t just collect data — it transforms it into actionable intelligence:

  • Helping trigger anti-pollution protocols automatically.
  • Informing drivers about real-time LEZ conditions and restrictions.
  • Enabling smarter, evidence-based policies for mobility and urban development.

The result is a dynamic, data-driven system that puts air quality management into the hands of decision-makers.

A future-focused project backed by European funding

This initiative has been made possible through Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and the EU’s Next Generation funding. It shows how European investment in green innovation is already producing tangible results in cities like Las Rozas.

Bettair, partner of smart and sustainable cities

This project confirms Bettair’s position as a technological leader in urban environmental monitoring. Our goal is simple: to help cities make informed decisions that lead to cleaner, healthier, and more livable urban spaces.

The Las Rozas project is a perfect example of how advanced technology — when applied effectively — can have a real impact on people’s everyday lives. From precise pollution detection to smarter urban planning, Bettair is here to support cities on their journey to sustainability.
